With Valentine’s Day only a week away, our challenge this month at The Cutting Cafe is perfectly timed. Our project can include any Valentine’s Day word shaped cards. For my project, I combined two separate cut files; the XOXO Word Shaped Card and Hershey Kiss Window Box to make this card candy holder combo.
Once I imported all the pieces into my Silhouette design screen the first thing I did was match the width of the card to the candy box. I allowed the width to dictate the height of the card.
I wanted to be able to cut this from a single 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock, so I also made a slight change to the box by welding the lid (after some sizing) to the box. Next, I welded the box to the card. That’s probably as clear as mud, but perhaps a view from the side will show you what I did:
The card file includes both mats and individual letters. I filled them with Valentine’s themed digital patterned paper, each letter with a different pattern. After attaching the patterned paper, I embossed the entire card front with Adorning Accents embossing folder. Another pattern adorns the box.
Here’s a closer look at the front. You’ll see I added some Pearl Bling from Eyelet Outlet to accent.
The card file also includes sentiments, one of which I used inside.
I wish I had thought to include the Everyday Hershey Kiss Bottoms on the candy. Next time I will be sure to do so! This is so cute, there will definitely be a next time.
I’m sure there will be a nice variety of awesome projects by the rest of the design team. I can’t wait to see what they’ve made. Just click here to see for yourself. Leave a comment when you visit The Cutting Cafe for a chance to win three free files of your choice. No cutting machine? No problem! All the files come complete with a .pdf so you can also cut them by hand. Sweet!
