Now on with the hop! You should have arrived here from the talented Connie’s blog!
My first critter is a sweet skunk who’s feeling a little under the weather. He’s got the sniffles and sneezes and a temperature…that stinks! And that’s just what the sentiment inside the card says!
To make this card I used the Skunk and Medical Bears cut files from My Scrap Chick. I happened upon a phenomenal deal they offered two years ago called, “Buy the Store”. This year they offered a Pink Ticket which was an add-on to the original sale. It was an incredible value, especially because their cut files are great quality. I tried to find out from My Scrap Chick if they were having this sale again to give you a heads up to look for it, but despite three attempts I never did hear back from them 🙁
I wanted to mention a mistake which turned into an opportunity on this card. I had intended to make it a 5″ x 7″ card when I cut the pieces for the front; but when I cut the card, I just did the usual and cut it to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. I could have cut another base, but tried allowing the pieces to extend off the top and sides and I really liked the look. I will definitely try this again…on purpose. One more thing I want to mention…that’s a real tissue sticking out of the tissue box…it’s Puffs Plus Aloe so it’s nice and soft on his little nose.
My next card is a Swing Easel card I first saw on Amanda Bates’ The Craft Spa and knew I just had to try it out. I think it works out perfectly for this Moose, also from My Scrap Chick.
I knew I wanted rustic road signs, but couldn’t find any so I made my own. The center sign I used for the greeting, the grass, clouds and mushrooms are from the Silhouette Design Store. Amanda shared the tutorial for the Swing Easel card on her blog, but I made my own cut file and am happy to share it or convert it to a template for you, just leave me a comment with your e-mail address.
Next up a little water coloring using this delightful Mr. Foxy image from Polkadoodles. If you haven’t heard of them, you really want to check them out. I kept this card rather plain as I wanted the image to do the talking…What Does the Fox Say? This card is going to be perfect for a friend who is a Wild Animal Rehabber… she’ll love it.
That’s all the critters I’ve got for you. Up next is my blogging buddy Miranda. Remember to follow everyone and leave a comment along the way to be eligible to win!
