Wedding

Just Add Ink is having a challenge this week and guess what the theme is?  How on earth did you figure that out?  You are just so smart!

So, wedding it is and this is the card I submitted for the challenge:

Happily Ever After 1

This is a card-in-a-box-in-a-box-in-a-box card…no, I’m not stuttering, it actually is four layers of boxes attached inside a slightly larger box to form a layer cake fit for any bride and groom.  I have to admit I was ready for a divorce from this card while trying to put it together, but I finally managed it and then I made another and it was a bit easier.  By the time I made the third, I had developed a system.  If you’ve never seen this type of card before, you might be surprised to know it folds flat for mailing.

The cut file for the cake is from Svgcuts (I just love their files), the card stock, pattern paper and doily are from Stampin’ Up as is the stamp set I used on the reverse of the card.  I colored the pearls with Blendabilities.  If you click on the card, it will take you to the gallery for additional pictures.

If you have a moment, why not go over to Just Add Ink to see all the other cards submitted for this challenge and the great inspiration provided by the Design Team.

  1. Wow, Kim – that is one awesome, elaborate, amazing wedding card! I had to laugh at your comment about being ready for divorce from this card in the making; you certainly have more persistence and patience than I! The end result is just fabulous. Thanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much Christine. It wasn’t persistence and patience…just sheer stubborness that kept me at it.

What an impressive structure! I like the way the doilies look like icing and the colour you’ve picked for the lace is an elegant choice.

This is great – love how you have decorated it with the doily on the bottom layer. And now…..I really do want to see how it folds flat! Chantell JAI

It does seem impossible, doesn’t it? I’ll have to take a picture of it folded in an envelope and post it in the gallery to prove I’m not just pulling your leg!

Patrice, I am so grateful for your kind words. I had to laugh…I was feeling anything but saintly as I was trying to line those boxes up. But when I was done, I was glad I stuck to it.
