The Cutting Cafe Blog Hop-3D Pumpkins

Welcome to The Cutting Cafe Blog Hop!

Today we are doing something a bit different and I’m pretty darn excited about it!  Each of us on the Design Team is giving away the very set(s) we used to create our projects.  And all you need to do to be entered to win is leave a comment telling us what you think of our projects.  I will be picking a winner from the comments received on September 14th, so check back to see if that winner is you!  Pretty generous of The Cutting Cafe, don’t you think??

Just to make sure you’re in the right place along the hop, you should have arrived here from Chauntelle’s blog.  If you want to start the hop at the beginning just click here

Now to my project:

I used the 3D Pumpkin Template and Cutting File Set together with the Halloween Toppers/Tags and the Halloween Photo Booth Props.  Here’s a picture of the 3D pumpkins.  I love this look and plan on making a trio of them as well, but I wanted to show you something a little different to show you the versatility of the file.

With just a few changes, I the look of these pumpkins goes from the very sophisticated look you see above to the more whimsical look you see here:

3D Pumpkin|Halloween|The Cutting Cafe

To make this version, I simply created an internal offset in the Offset Window.  I experimented with the overall size and the amount of offset to see which I liked best. Turns out I like them all.   Since all the hard work was done for me, it was fun to play.

I used digital patterned paper on all three, printing it on white card stock.  You could easily use any Halloween themed patterned paper.  If you wanted to make the cute small version, this paper in The Cutting Cafe Shop would work perfectly.

I cut the center spinners as well as the leaves and stems from black card stock.  I cut two of the spider and cat and placed them back to back.  For the bat, I cut three; folding them in half and attaching them wing to wing.

For the stems, I used curled chenille stems (back in the day I called them pipe cleaners).  I got this idea from my design team sister, Tina Goodwin; who used covered floral wire on one of her cards using the Fun With Silhouettes cut file.

Here’s a close-up of the three Pumpkins:

Which is your favorite?  I think I’m partial to the spider.  But that cat is so cute.  Then again the bat looks pretty cool!

Next, you’re off to visit the talented Deb Rauch.  She will have a fun project to share and yet another Cutting Cafe set(s) for you to win.

Just in case you get lost, here’s the full list of hop participants. Be sure to visit each blog for a chance to win!  Don’t worry if you don’t have an e-cutter as these files also contain a .pdf you can use as a template; not to mention printables!

  26. leslie559 says:

Hey Kim….these are great. Such a perfect idea to enhance a great cutting file.

I downloaded the file a few days ago and can’t decide if they should be glued in the center or more of a back to back kind of fashion. I cut four and glued them in the center but it won’t open and fan out very well. How many of each did you cut on these? And how did you glue them together? I’m not sure why this file has me stumped….LOL

    • Kim&Katy says:

Leslie, I cut six. I folded them on the score line and attached them in a stacked fashion, gluing back to back. There are.pdf instructions included with the file which you will find helpful. I imported it right into my cutter’s design screen for ready reference. You’re like me…forge right into the project, lol!

  27. Karel says:

Thanks, Robyn. I have to go back and count, but it seems the bat and the cat are neck and neck! Good luck in the drawing.
