Welcome to my stop on the “Thankful for 3 Girl JAM Fans Blog Hop!” The 3 Girl JAM design team has joined up with a few friends and fans to put together an awesome hop full of inspiration and fun! If you arrived here from Dawn’s blog, you’re in the right place! If you’re visiting me first, you might want to start the hop from the beginning!
3 Girl JAM has put together an awesome prize package of crafty goodness! To win it, all you have to do is leave a comment on each stop of the hop. Easy peezy!
I had so much fun working with 3GJ ribbon I just couldn’t stop! As a result, I have a number of cards to share with you. First up, a card in keeping with the thankful theme just as a reminder of how much 3GJ appreciates their fans! As thankful as 3GJ is for all their friends and fans, I’m equally thankful to have been asked to be a part of their blog hop and to try out some of their delicious ribbon.
I made this card using Bazzill card stock for all layers and printed the wheat image on the smallest rectangle and cut a slot on either side through which I threaded the 3 GJ Teal Blue Crinkle Ribbon. I tied it into a bow, including some twine. I think that teal blue really sets the image off beautifully. I still had plenty of this beautiful ribbon, so I made another card using it.
I wanted to share something a little different with you, so I tried a ribbon frame. The 3GJ Crinkle Ribbon worked perfectly because it’s so flexible. I’ve seen several cards with square and rectangle frames, but I wanted a round frame; so I made my own in my Silhouette. I also made a template to share with you…it’s on the Hints, Tips & Tutorials page if you’d like it.
And, since Christmas is right around the corner, I used Green & Red striped ribbon from the 3GJ Holiday Trim to hang my ornament on this tent card. I made that cute little bow using a fork, following a YouTube tutorial. I have a link to it and several other bow making tutorials under the links section on that same Hints, Tips & Tutorials page. I made a gift tag to go with this card using the same dies and ribbon.
With the leftover ribbon, I made my next card using a Silhouette cut file for both the card and the ribbon slide. I colored this image and the greeting and sentiment in Photoshop Elements. The hardest part about making this card was deciding which side of the ribbon slide I wanted facing up as you get two completely different looks after threading the ribbon through it. Since I still had a bit of ribbon left, I tied that little knot on the opposite side as the card needed something there.
I also had some Peach Tie Dye Ribbon and it was just too scrumptious not to use to make a few more cards. Again, I wanted to show you a way to use your ribbon you may not have tried previously. I cut the semi circles through which the ribbon is threaded on my Silhouette, but you could accomplish the same thing with a slit punch.
This ribbon coordinates so well with so many colors, so I made just one last card. I simply cut a number of strips of green card stock for the stems and wrapped them in the Peach Tie Dye ribbon and tied a double bow to place on top. I punched the flowers and placed lots (and lots) of them on a circle of card stock. The flower centers are made with yellow Stickles.
This is the first time I’ve used 3GJ ribbon, but I can tell you it won’t be the last. Beautiful to look at and great to work with…a winning combination!
