“Seas” the Day at Challenge Up Your Life

I entered a card at Challenge Up Your Life recently and I received an e-mail telling me I won!  The challenge theme was Brads, so I got to show off one of this Eyelet Outlet project which I shared not long ago.  As the winner, I was invited to be a guest designer in two July challenges.   I think that’s a very clever way to reward winners.

So today I’m sharing the card I made for the first of these guest designer slots for Challenge #70 Color-Combo.  Here’s the inspiration piece:

I made card-in-a-box card with a nautical theme and I think I hit every one of the colors in the inspiration piece.

I started this card by selecting the patterned paper I wanted to use.  I chose the Coastal Kit from NitWit Collections. I color matched the card stock; Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Real Red and Whisper White by Stampin’ Up.

To finish it off, I added a candy dot on the ship’s wheel and coated the flags with Wink of Stella.  Here’s another look at the card from the side so you can see the “layers”.

And I added a little sentiment on the back which plays off the theme.

I hope you like my card and if you’d like to see the other challenge inspiration, just click here.  Tell ’em Katydid Cards sent you!  Better yet, why not join in the fun and center the challenge yourself!

I’ve also entered this card in the following challenge:
