Today’s hop is all about traveling this great country of ours and all the crafty projects are inspired by that travel theme.  We’ve got a bit of everything for you today, so be sure to stop by each blog and leave a little love in the form of a comment. One comment will be chosen from all those left on the hop by June 30th for a Stampin’ Up prize pack and the winner will be announced on next month’s hop.  So let’s get on the road, shall we?

If you arrived here from my blogging buddy Alicia, you’re in the right place.  If you’re starting here first, you might want to start the hop at the beginning so you don’t miss anything and comment on each blog to be entered for the Stampin’ Up prize pack.  However you arrived, I’m so happy you’re visiting.

If you’re not in a hurry to reach your destination, traveling by train is a great way to go.  Someone else does the driving for you while you sit back and relax…and the seating is far more spacious than in airplanes these days.  I made this card with components from the All Aboard Train Trio from My Scrap Chick, but the inspiration came from my blogging friend, Kelly, whose cards are among the best I’ve ever seen.

Right on Track wm 1

But if you need to get where you’re going quickly, then an airplane is what you want.  Here we have an airplane spinner…looks like this plane is in for a rough flight!  This card was made using a Snapdragon Snippets design purchased through the Silhouette store.  Of course, I had to make changes to it because I just can’t seem to leave anything well enough alone.

Soars to New Heights wm 1

Of course, you can take to the air in a more leisurely fashion via a hot air balloon if you’ve a mind to.  Having been in a hot air balloon once and experienced a hard landing, I wouldn’t use this mode of transportation again…ever!   I created this 5″ x 7″ shadow box card and made the personalized greeting by using the text to path option in Silhouette.   If you would like to see a tutorial on how to text to path, just let me know in the comments section.

Soars 1

If you’ve a mind to travel with or even IN your own accommodations, then an RV would be for you.  Here’s one all gassed up and ready to go.  I made this card by combining components from two separate cut files by Lori Whitlock and Samantha Walker, purchased in the Silhouette Store.  I made this a birthday card and love the humorous greeting and sentiment.  Click on the card if you want to see it.

Sweet Ride wm 1

If I wasn’t too old, too practical and too much of a “what if” kinda gal, I’d love to travel the country on the back of a motorcycle.  Seems like such a carefree way to travel.

Enjoy the Ride 1

Well, that’s all I have for you today.  I hope you enjoyed the projects I shared.  If you want to see additional pictures of each card, just click on the image and it will take you to the gallery and if you want to know more about any of the cards than I’ve shared here, just let me know in comments or via e-mail.  Next up on this road trip is the talented Connie.

As usual you are a card making machine and as usual they are all fantastic. I love personalized cards, so the option you used on the Silhouette looks like a great one.

  5. Red1979 says:

Awesome cards! You covered all the bases. I really liked that train, but then oh, the plane. Geez, they were all so cute. That last one with the motorcycle really caught my eye as well. Thanks for sharing – such wonderful inspiration!

  6. Sharon says:

Love, love, love everything! It’s always so exciting to come to your part of the blog hops to see what you have in store for us and, as usual, you did not disappoint. That hot air balloon card is adorable and I like how you used cut-out text on a path. Very clever. As far as the motorbiking, let’s do it! Sometimes a girls just gotta have fun.

    • Kim&Katy says:

Thank you, Sharon. I had fun with these cards! Can’t think of anyone I’d rather take a road trip with!

  8. Somebody was busy being very creative!? All your cards are fantastic and I’m glad I got to see them. They are so bright and cheery.

  9. Lynn McAuley says:

This travel collection pretty much covers all the bases! What exquisite creations, Kim! I have not experienced a trip by train or been in a hot air balloon but maybe some day!!

  10. Iris soscia says:

    Super cute images

  11. Carol says:

Each of your cards is amazing! I would like to know how to do the text to path. Not sure if I will understand, but the look is awesome. Just love your blog!

    • Kim&Katy says:

Carol, that is done through the Silhouette. Do you have one or think you might be getting one…I can share so many tips with you if you do. If not, you can do it without cutting it out in Microsoft Word using Word Art. Takes a little getting used to, but I know you’re up to the challenge.

  12. Sue Kimmet says:

Great cards! I especially love the motorcycle, a great masculine card.

    • Kim&Katy says:

Thanks, Sue. I like that blue and orange together, too. Thank you, DSP, for figuring that out for me!

  13. Gracie says:

Wow – they are all wonderful! Great job!!!!

  14. Anna C says:

You did a great job and covered them all ! Planes Trains and Automobiles ..sort of LOL Even Balloons! I went sliding to a stop on a motorcycle and the whole time my head was slamming into the ground I kept saying “God if I survive I promise never to get on another one!!” And I never have!!!
Love the cards, especially the motor home! Can you use Silhouette files in the Cricut? Thanks for hopping!

    • Kim&Katy says:

You’re lucky you’re alive after that! I don’t think I would get back on one either. I think the only way to use Silhouette files in Cricut is to trace them, but that’s a guess.

  15. Susan says:

Holy Cow!!! Some awesome travel cards! I think you hit all means of transportation! Love them all!

  16. charligirl88 says:

You crack me up! “That’s all…” That’s ALL???? Wow! As always, you did SOOOO much! And they’re great! Yes! I’d love to see a tutorial for the text. And I’d also love a link to your friend “Kelly”. Great hopping with you!

    • Kim&Katy says:

Okay, I’ll work on a tutorial for that. Always looking for content which would interest people. Kelly’s blog is Kreative Korner by Kelly. http://kreativekornerbykelly.blogspot.com/ She’s also on Pinterest. Unfortunately, she doesn’t post anymore and when I e-mailed her to catch up, I didn’t get a response. I hope she’s okay.
