It’s April 1st and that means it time for another challenge at Connie Can Crop…and I’m not kidding (even though it’s April Fools’ Day).
This month the challenge is Queen Bee…it can be anything to do with a Queen or a Bee or both!
Since I’m participating in a bee themed hop later this month, I decided to go the Queen route. Not that I know anything about the life of a Queen…wouldn’t mind being a Queen for a Day, though. And that’s how I ended up making this card using the Assorted Crown Templates offered by The Cutting Cafe, our sponsor for this month. They are offering the winner of the challenge their choice of three cutting files!
I made the base using lavender card stock and cut another piece for the front from the Her Royal Highness by Brit-ish Designs. From the scrap, I cut a mat for my label by welding several shapes together. Then I created a slider label for my greeting which I made using the Baskerville Old Face font, color matched to the patterned paper. The “gems” were made with purple Stickles.
I used ribbon from Stampin’ Up across the front. It picks up the colors of the various crowns so nicely…just like it was meant to happen.
I wanted to make it a fun “just because” card, so I opted to put this on the interior of the card. I know a few of my friends would love a little unexpected pick-me-up like this.
And that’s it! A quick and easy card using one of The Cutting Cafe’s cut files…I love it when someone else does all the work for me, LOL
Don’t forget to participate in the Queen Bee challenge! You have the entire month to come up with something exciting.
