Pets Deserve Presents, Too, With The Cutting Cafe

For today’s challenge with The Cutting Cafe, the design team can use any files we wish from the store.  I used two 3D House Set and the Pillow Box to make some pet treat gift boxes because, as my post title confirms, pets deserve presents, too!

The 3D House Set includes assorted houses in three sizes for maximum versatility.  Additionally, the set comes with sentiments, accessories, trees, and bases.  I opted to use the largest of the three, but I made it a tad thinner on the sides.  For the house, I stamped it with a woodgrain background stamp and then scored it every 1/2″ to simulate siding.  I attached scalloped “shingles” on the roof as well.

The cut file provides the option for a permanently attached roof or one that can be opened.  I opted for the later so I could fill it with dog treats.

Using the Pillow Boxes, I printed on both sides of my cardstock with a cat and dog themed digital patterned paper.  I traced the mouse and bone from the paper and used them for the openings.  There are plenty of pillow boxes with the opening already provided for you in the store; I just wanted mine to match the paper.

I left the boxes empty so you can see the decorative inside as well.  I placed acetate inside the box to contain all the goodies.  The cutout works perfectly as the tag.  On the reverse of the tag is the greeting and the “to” and “from” (you can see that in the top photo).  The beauty of these pillow boxes is the flaps are self-closing…it’s like magic!

We had another “anything goes” challenge last April.  Here’s the link to that if you’d like to take a peek.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the team has come up with.  There will be lots of variety as we can work with any file!  Just click here to see for yourself.  Leave a comment when you visit The Cutting Cafe for a chance to win three free files of your choice.  No cutting machine?  No problem!  All the files come complete with a .pdf so you can also cut them by hand.  Sweet!

I’ll be sharing more challenges next month.  Stay tuned!

Oh, Kim…how I love these! I am definitely going to CASE the pillow boxes for future use. I so appreciate your wonderful creations! And yes, pets definitely deserve presents also. I love that you put Katie’s name on the bone on the front of the house. How sweet.

Carol, I’m so glad you like them! Yes, I just couldn’t resist putting Katy’s name there…although Katy would NEVER go into a dog house…it was the sofa and bed for her…quite the princess!

My siblings have lots of dogs. These would be great for them. Thanks for your inspiration.

  6. These are adorable and I especially love the scalloped shingles on the roof. We have a black lab and three cats in the house. Since I found out a year ago I am allergic to the cats, they no longer sleep in the bedroom or are allowed in my craft room. They are quite put out about that and try to sneak in every chance they get, lol.

I have a question do you sell the dies for the dog house

    • Kim&Katy says:

Hi Dava. Thanks for visiting. The original cut file for the dog house is from The Cutting Cafe. As I mentioned in my post, I did make a few changes to it.

I'd love to hear from you. I so appreciate your comments!
