Welcome to the National Dog Day Blog Hop!
I am excited to have you hop with us in celebration of National Dog Day which is tomorrow, August 26th! We’re coming to you a day early to remind you to hug your pooch, give extra treats, go for an extra long walk, etc all day long. Each blogger participating in this hop is featuring a crafty project involving, you guessed it, a DOG, so you’ll find lots of unique ideas having to do with dogs. We hope you’ll enjoy each project along the way.
Be sure to leave a comment at each hop to show some blog love and to qualify to win a prize. It would be nice if you would follow the blogs as well, but it’s not a must. The prize, offered by our host, Haidee, is a $15.00 gift card to your choice of Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Jo-Ann. Pretty nice, right?
With a blog named after my dog, how could I not participate in this blog hop? I’ve got a couple of projects to share with you today:
My first card, an accordion fold, involves dogs in a round-about way. I made it for a woman who teaches and competes in dog agility.
The card uses the various obstacles on the agility course as the inspiration for the birthday poem. I couldn’t find the proper embellishments, so I down-loaded clip art and converted them to cut files. I’d love for you to see the inside of the card, so if you click on the image, it’ll take you to the gallery.
Next is a card I made previously, but I wanted to share it with you because it’s a little different and might give you some inspiration to try a similar project. I was asked to make a card to say thanks to a professional photographer for using my friend’s dogs in a photo shoot for a dog tricks book. Click on the card and it will take you to the gallery. See if you can guess what the trick was.
Did you guess the trick? I’ll tell you just in case…it was a small dog walking a big dog on a leash.
This is one of the few times I dusted off my Cricut and used it. I’m not sure why I don’t use it more because I love the cards I can make with it. Is it me or does it seem to you Cricut users that their cards are “meatier”, having more layers and dimension?
I’m a big dog lover, so I have lots of cards involving dogs. Do you want to see one more card? I’m going to hope you said, “yes” because here’s another.
This was a real simple card to put together, but I just smile every time I look at it…it reminds me of my dog, Katy (did you see her at the top of the page?) Katy takes her food very seriously. This was created as a note card, so the inside was left blank for my hand-written message.
There are many more dog themed card in the gallery if you have the time and the desire to visit. Oh and check out my scrapbook pages as well as they feature all my dogs, past and present.
Your next stop is my blog hopping buddy, Alicia.
Here is a list of the line up just in case if you get lost:
