The Dog Days of August are the perfect time for our challenge this month; Summer Fun!
Summer fun makes me think of sandy beaches, cool breezes and the sound of the waves. And, to be hones, a cocktail in my hand wouldn’t hurt! Here’s my card which has all the components…but the cocktail…for a perfect summer day!
To make this card, I used the Tropical Sunset cut file as the centerpiece of a shadow box card. I made it a 5″ x 7″ card because I wanted to components of the file to be large enough to appreciate. The moon’s circle was traced and made into the opening. Then placed the background of the waves and flowers and welded them into the circle. I placed the moon on the inside of the back panel while the moon’s glow, waves and flowers are attached to the front panel. The palm trees are attached to the back of the front panel with dimensionals and the top of the tree is brought to the front. Clear as mud, right? Here’s a close-up which might make more sense.
I added pearls, colored with Copics to the flower centers and coated the top layer of the waves with Wink of Stella. I also sprayed the moon with Shimmer Spritz.
After I assembled the card, it looked a little plain to me, so I added a mat of digital paper from the Sunkissed Summer kit from Peppermint Creative. I also ran ribbon down each side with a small knot in the middle as an accent.
I found this sentiment on the Internet and typed it in brown using the Channel font. I also brought the waves to the back and converted them to print only.
So now it’s your turn to enter the challenge at Miss Kate’s Facebook Group. The requirements for the challenge are to follow the theme of the month and use a Miss Kate Cuttable’s file in your creation, including any/all freebies you have. The challenge will run from this evening through the 4th Monday of each month. Winners will be announced, in the group, Friday of challenge end week. Remember this month’s theme is summer fun. Good luck!
See you next month with yet another challenge project!
