It’s time for the monthly challenge at Miss Kate Cuttables and this month the theme is “Fall”. But first, I want to remind you about the Freebie of the Day at Miss Kate’s. There’s one each and every day…a great way to start your collection.
I don’t know about you, but autumn is my very favorite time of year. I love the crispness in the air and the smell of the falling leaves, apples are at their best and the colors of autumn are unmatched.
Here’s my card to help Miss Kate celebrate the season:
I saw a “stand up” card on SVGCuts and thought it would be perfect for this card, so I patterned my card after that. Quite a few Miss Kate’s files were used for this card. First we have the Fall Barn for the barn and hay bale, Corn Stalk and Pumpkins, Scarecrow with Pumpkins and Happy Sun.
It’s called a stand-up card because the front piece pulls out from the card base, which is a single piece (not a card fold). The fence is attached behind the barn and folds over on itself. Let me show you want I’m talking about:
I made the fence just by welding several rectangles to the size I wanted. Then I placed the corn, scarecrow and pumpkin shapes on the fence and welded them so have a place to attach the pieces. I added a tab to the end to fold behind the barn and placed a score on the opposite end. Here’s a close-up of that:
I was a bit concerned cutting these in miniature as there’s such detail to these files, but you can see they cut just fine from a combination of Stampin’ Up and Bazzill card stocks.
For a bit of the unexpected, I cut out the barn door and tucked a hay bale and pumpkin inside the barn with another pumpkin by the silo. Here’s what that looks like:
Attached everything to a base of Soft Sky card stock and embossed it with the Cloudy Day embossing folder (one of my favorites). I attached another layer on the back as I didn’t want to embossing on the back as I wanted to attach a panel with the sentiment. Speaking of which, I made the sentiment using the Alex Brush font in brown. I converted the scarecrow and pumpkin to print only and used it to further embellish the panel.
