The 1st of June brings another monthly challenge at Connie Can Crop. This month the theme is Let Freedom Ring. Any project submitted must contain red, white and blue and/or rings or circles.
The sponsor for the challenge this month is Miss Kate Cuttables who is generously offering the winner, picked at random, their choice of any three cut files in the store. In addition, the design team will pick the three projects they like best and each of you will receive a badge for your blog and bragging rights!
My project includes both red, white and blue and my card base is a circle, so I covered all my bases for this challenge.
The focal image was made using the God Bless the USA cut file from Miss Kate Cuttables. It’s got lots of layers so this is quite a beefy piece, which I love. I cut it from Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White card stocks. I converted the “God Bless” portion to print only on the Whisper White. After putting everything together, I used Wink of Stella on the Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler. Here’s a close-up of that.
From this picture you can also see the patterned paper I used. This came from the Bada Bing digital collection from Amanda Heimann. I liked the overall pattern, but I changed just about everything else. Here’s what the original paper looked like. So, you can see I reversed the colors and changed (actually covered) the circles with stars in Photoshop Elements.
I cut a few stars in three different sizes and attached them randomly on the front with metallic confetti stars I got at a party store.
I attached everything to a simple circle with a perforated line across the center to create a rocker card.
For the inside, I used another Miss Kate Cuttables cut file, 4th of July Title and changed it to print only. I added a few more stars and that did it.
Now it your turn to make any sort of project which is red, white and blue and/or rings and circles and link-up to Connie Can Crop’s Let Freedom Ring challenge. You have until June 30th at 11:59 PM, PST to enter…so go get your craft on!
