I was asked recently to make a card for a 50th anniversary. Easy, I thought. But this wasn’t just any 50th anniversary…it was the Golden Jubilee for a nun serving 50 years in religious life. Poof…easy went out the window!
I wanted it to be beautiful and elegant and worthy of 50 years selflessly serving others…can you even imagine? And for a nun! Being catholic myself, I sure didn’t want to disappoint a nun with a so-so card…how would I explain that at the Pearly Gates??
Well, this is what I came up with:
It’s an easel card, which I thought would be a nice keepsake for Sister, but also allows for a personal sentiment inside which can’t be seen when it’s in its open position. Click on the card and it will take you to the gallery to see what it looks like in easel position and the sentiment.
I used Whisper White and Gold Foil paper from Stampin’ Up. The cross was made using Spellbinders Cross Collection, alternating Whisper White and Gold Foil. I love this embossing folder, Hello Friend from Sizzix which, by the way, is on clearance at Sizzix right now. It’s a perfect background for pearls, also from Stampin’ Up. The computer generated greeting was placed on the Carte Bella Label from the Silhouette Store. The sentiment was also computer generated.
I was honored to be asked to make a card for such an auspicious occasion and I’m happy to have had the opportunity. Thank you, Pat, for your confidence in me. Pat has been a subscriber of Katydid Cards back from the very beginning and, though she has weathered some storms, both literally and figuratively, she is still with me…love you, Pat!
