Welcome to the “Corny”copia Blog Hop
We have an awesome sponsor for this month!
One lucky winner will win this Fall themed card kit:
Now to my projects:
Those of you who have gotten to know me through my blog will not be surprised when I admit sometimes I have a
warped dry sense of humor. So this blog hop is right up my alley! But I have to admit I was a bit unsure of the fall “pun” theme we were asked to use. I actually had to look up the definition of pun to see what it is we were asked to do. And here’s what I found:
I made my first card for this hop before I knew exactly what a pun was. But, since it is “corny”, which is in the title of the blog, I decided to keep it in my line-up.
I’ve been seeing this card fold a lot lately. I’m calling it a twisted gate-fold; though I’ve seen it dubbed with other names as well. I knew there would be many videos demonstrating how to make this, but I just couldn’t wait, so I fiddled with it until I got dimensions that worked (though they may not be what others recommend). If you’d like the freebie template, it’s on the Hints, Tips & Tutorials page.
If you want to see the punchline, click on the card and it will take you to the gallery where you can see the inside, additional pictures and more in-depth assembly information. I do want to share here I used the Pumpkin Patch Kit by NitWit Collections and color matched my Stampin’ Up card stock to it; Tempting Turquoise and Perfect Peach.
Here we have a card with a cute beaver by My Scrap Chick, busy making his home ready for winter. I thought the greeting worked perfectly with the beaver (and the hop) and made for a great thank you card.
I used another NitWit Kit, In the Woods, for the digital patterned paper. I thought the circles would accentuate the semi-circle tab closure on the front. I printed the greeting in Accent Dot Writer, color matched to one of the circles in the paper. The beaver is from My Scrap Chick and the tool box is altered from a Studio Ilustrado cut file. Click on the card to see additional pictures and further assembly details.
Next up, we have a turkey who’s very stuffed…it’s up to you to decide if that’s literally or figuratively! This turkey is made with a Paper Crafting World digital stamp. As I wanted to change the colors slightly to match my digital patterned paper, I opted to use the basic pre-colored version. He’s lounging on a sofa made using a cut file by Marji Roy. For the “upholstery” I used paper from the Me-Wow Kit from NitWit Collections. I made the greeting and sentiment using the Andalus font in red.
And last is a card made using the Pick a Pumpkin Kit by SVGCuts. I changed the greeting to play off the “pile” of fall characters. I love the tall aspect of this card…plus I have a ton of business envelopes I’d like to use. The digital patterned paper I used is from A Fresh Start Kit by Sweet Shoppe Designs. The greeting and sentiment were created using the Blackjack font, cut from card stock for the greeting and printed on Very Vanilla for the sentiment.
Now it’s time to hop on over to my talented blogging buddy, Holli. I hope Fall Leaves You Happy!!
