Welcome to the Black Tie Affair Blog Hop
We are so delighted you are joining us for this very formal occasion where we will be showcasing projects with class, from weddings to homecoming dances and any number of formal events in between.
We have an amazing sponsor this month!!
What do you need to do to win?
Just become a follower of each of the fabulous blogs in this hop and leave each of them a comment letting them know what you like best about their projects. It really is that easy! You will have until 10 pm Sunday to finish the hop and leave your comments. The winner will be announced on Wednesday 2/24/16 at Connie Can Crop‘s blog (so don’t forget to come back and check to see if you’re the winner).
If you came from the talented Alicia’s blog, you’re in the right place! If you’re visiting here first, you might want to start the hop at the beginning at Connie Can Crop. However you got here, I’m thrilled you’re visiting so I can share my projects with you…and here they are:
The first black tie affair I was invited to was a Casino night for charity. The words “black tie affair” struck terror in my heart, but we found appropriate attire and when we got there we realized we needn’t have worried. One man had a black tie over his polo shirt and jeans and no one blinked an eye. Anyway, we got down to the gambling and it was so fun playing roulette. The good thing was it was fake money, so I gambled fearlessly. I won big; the bad thing was it was fake money.
So in honor of that one and only black tie affair I ever attended, I’m sharing with you a casino themed Roulette Box Card from Dreaming Tree. I am in LOVE with the Dreaming Tree cut files, so unique and provide that “wow” factor we all want from our cards. Another great thing about Dreaming Tree is they provide video tutorials for their projects, so you’re never without assistance if you need it. I don’t know about you, but I’ve purchased cut files from time to time and they come with no instructions and you just can’t make sense of them…that’s when you really appreciate places like Dreaming Tree. This cut file can be purchased individually or as part of the Vegas Road Trip Bundle for a better deal.
The Roulette Wheel is interactive, it spins! The design on this is so clever…you’ll see more when you look at the other pictures.
It was difficult to capture a really good picture of this card, but there are more in the gallery with details. You just need to click on the card and it will take you there. If you want to see a really good picture, check it out on Dreaming Tree. Also, you should like and follow Dreaming Tree on Facebook as they are always coming up with exciting things
Of course, there are other formal affairs. Weddings being one of them, so I thought I’d share a few wedding cards with you as well.
First up, a Wedding Exploding Box Card in the colors of the wedding party; navy and gold. Here is the box, closed.
And when you open it, the sides fall to reveal this. Each side has a pocket with a unique pull out, one of them being a little envelope for cash or a check. And the wedding cake contains no calories!!
The gallery has more pictures if you’d like to see them. I made another card like this in pink, black and gold for another wedding and I’m happy to say it was accepted for publication in Scrap N’ Art Magazine last month. It’s funny how I came to make this second card…I was asked to make the pink version for the father of the groom and it must have been a hit because the mother of the bride asked me to make the blue version for another wedding.
Here’s another wedding card. Not as elaborate as the exploding box but I like it every bit as much. As pretty as the front is, the inside has a pretty surprise as well.
And here’s the little surprise inside I was talking about.
I made this card in blue as well. It’s in the gallery. If you’d like to see it, just click on the card above and it’ll take you there. I’m also submitting this card to the Amusing Challenge over at Blessings Ink. This month the theme is Shades of Pink. It’s a fun challenge!
I’ve posted this next card previously, but I love it and the occasion for which it was made so much, I wanted to share it again. This was made for a Golden Jubilee…50 years of selfless serving in religious life and a formal affair. This would also make a beautiful card for a 50th wedding anniversary as well, wouldn’t it?
Well, that’s it for me this time. You can see more pictures of each card in my gallery if you’ve a mind to check them out or you can hop on over to my blogging buddy, Angela, who will have something wonderful for you to see…I’ve gotten a sneak peek, so I know!
