Before I share my challenge post, I would like to extend a warm welcome to CrazyCatLady58 as my newest e-mail subscriber. I’m so happy you’ve joined us!
The challenge at Miss Kate Cuttables this month is to use hearts in your project. Very appropriate for February, a month to celebrate love, so I decided to use it on my design team post as well.
Before I share my card, I want to remind you about Miss Kate’s freebie of the day which you can find just by clicking on the link.
And now to my card:
I used the Valentine Polar Bear as the centerpiece for this card. As I didn’t have the various shades of light to dark gray I wanted to use to make the bear, I converted him to a print and cut. I did the same with the heart. After cutting, I sponged all the edges to provide depth…a little more sponging on his cheeks, ears and little paws to give him a little winter glow.
I used a Sakura Gel Pen on his nose and eyes and Wink of Stella on the heart, which I attached with dimensionals. I popped the upper most portion of the body with dimensionals, too.
To showcase him, I used a 3D frame card cut file by Lori Whitlock. I cut it in Stampin’ Up’s Pool Party card stock as it coordinates with the digital papers from the More Amore collection, retired Stampin’ Up. The frame was easy to assemble; there’s also a video tutorial on YouTube by Lori Whitlock if guidance is needed. As an aside, Lori also has a cut file for a 3D box envelope as well.
The frame is attached to a standard card base of Rose Red; another color coordinating with the digital paper.
For the sentiment, I used the AR Blanca font in a dark gray and added the heart as an accent after converting it to print only. The Whisper White was cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and matted on another piece of Pool Party before attaching to the base.
And that, as they say, is that!
