What do you give someone who worked hard to pass her written and driving CDL license? Why, her own bus, of course! And without further ado, here it is:
Okay, it’s not quite large enough to drive; but it’s certainly large enough for Donna’s friends, Deb & Ray, to convey how excited and proud they are of her.
The card was made with a file by Snapdragon Snippets through the Silhouette store. It looks complicated to make, but Snapdragon has fantastic step-by-step instructions, including pictures on their website. I made a few mistakes, but it was because I forged ahead and did my own thing. I don’t consider them mistakes, though. I’ll call it…originality 😉
I personalized it with a greeting on the back combining flourishes with the Times New Roman font and another font, Blackjack. I also dated it just in case Donna wants it as a keepsake. I like the end result.
I further personalized it by putting Donna’s name on the side of the bus which I’m sure she will appreciate. Looking at this picture, I realize I forgot to attach the steering wheel…going to have to correct that before I send it off to Donna.
One thing I did as an afterthought was to stipple the area with gray to create a distinction between the bottom of the bus and the bottom of the card. Here’s a picture before I did stippled and I think it makes the bus appear out of proportion.
The nice thing about this card is that it fold flat for mailing. I had to make an envelope for it as it’s an odd size, but that gave me a great opportunity to decorate the envelope to match.
